Frequently Asked Questions

- I've never been to therapy before, how does this work?

Therapy can vary depending on what brings you in. Typically, we will have a first contact over the phone, during which I will inquire about your problem and expectations. This first phone consultation is free. I will answer questions you may have about therapy and decide whether I can be of help to you or not. We can discuss the fee and schedule a time to meet. Before our first meeting, I would like you to read my informed consent and fill out some forms, which I will mail or email you prior to our meeting. From then on, I will spend the first few sessions getting to know you and assessing your problem, so that I know best how to intervene to help you. Some people worry that they won't know what to talk about or how to act. I perfectly understand. However, you do not have to worry about that. We will work together at finding a way to alleviate your stress and resolve your problems. I see this process as a collaborative one.

- How many sessions will I need to be in therapy for?

Everybody is different, every problem is different. Some people choose to enter an in-depth self-examination journey, which typically has no deadline. Others come in with a very specific problem that they want to work on and terminate once they have found resolution. Some people choose to stay longer because once their initial problem is resolved, they decide to work on other issues. You are free to end this process at any time.

- How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically take place on a weekly basis unless otherwise arranged. For premarital counseling and couple's counseling, sessions are 75 minutes long.

- How much does a session cost?

My fee is $125 for a 50 minute session for individuals. For couples, the 1h15 session is $180.

- Do you take my insurance?

I am currently not on any insurance panel. However, if you have a PPO, I can provide you with a bill for your insurance as an out of network provider and they will then reimburse you according to your benefit plan. Usually, PPOs reimburse a certain percentage of the provider's fee, for a limited number of sessions.

- What form of payment do you accept?

    I take cash and checks.
